Our Cypriot Babymoon

The baby is due in less than two months (inshallah), so the end of Ramadan gave us our last chance to go on a childless vacation for a while. Cyprus, just a thirty minute plane flight from Beirut, was the perfect getaway.

The view from the top of St. Hilarion Castle, just outside of Girne in North Cyprus.

Cyprus, as you may know, has been divided by North (Turkish) and South (Greek) Cyprus. A year ago we spent a week on the Greek side. This year we dedicated our trip to the more remote, less developed Turkish side of the island.

The bulk of our vacation was spent on the Karpaz, or Karpasia, Peninsula. The Karpaz Peninsula is the handle that juts out of the Northeast corner of Cyprus. It was gorgeous. The further we drove along the peninsula, the fewer tourists we saw and the more beautiful the scenery became.

Driving out the Karpaz in our rental.

Obligatory time on every vacation is spent admiring the glory that was once Rome. This is from Salamis.

Obligatory time is also spent on the beach. This is the Karpaz's Golden Beach. We had the place to ourselves.

"Wild" donkeys roam the Karpaz.

If you are planning a trip to Cyprus, be sure to reserve a few days for the Karpaz Peninsula!

  1. Megan, you look adorable pregnant! And even though Wade is pretty cute too looking at all the ruins, I can't wait to see blogs about the baby.
