Miscellaneous Fall Pictures

Now that Christmas is upon us, we have more or less completed our first semester as teachers in Beirut. Here is a look back at a few moments that we forgot to mention on the blog:

OCTOBERFEST
To raise money for the school, ACS teachers organized a carnival/festival in late October. Thousands of people showed up, but the main attraction for Wade was Megan's appearance in the dunk tank. Out of the dozens of people who tried, Wade was the only one who successfully dunked her (kids don't grow up playing baseball over here).

HALLOWEEN
Halloween is a uniquely American holiday -- but that doesn't mean that Lebanese kids can't go trick or treating. On the Friday of October 31, Megan and Wade spent the entire school day dressed up as Superman and Superwoman. The costumes made meetings with parents a bit awkward. This is the only known picture, taken from a students' cell phone.

CHRISTMAS
Despite the fact that Lebanon is a majority Muslim country -- as is our school -- people still can't get enough of Santa Claus. This is Johnny from ACS's technology department. He dyed his beard white for the occasion.

The giant, blue "Christmas" tree outside of the blue mosque -- it's all part of the dynamic of living in Beirut during the Holiday season.
